PEACE CSR Project
With the first 30 International English speaking Student Teachers arriving in Poland in February, 2007, it is time to bring our Foundation members up-to-date on the Peace Teaching Tolerance Project that we are sponsoring in cooperation with our member company Tetley.

The Peace Project is an effort by AIESEC students at the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) to teach English to some of Poland’s poorest children. AIESEC is the world’s largest student organization, and is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential so as to have a positive impact in society. AIESEC is present in over 800 universities in 89 countries and territories.

Twenty-four students (possibly more) from around the world have been recruited by the SGH students to come to Poland for a period of 4 months to teach English to needy children in some of Poland’s poorest schools, including 4 of our Foundation’s Promise Schools.
The program is designed to provide basic English training to kids who may have no other chance of escaping the structural unemployment that exists in the villages and towns in which they live. Our International guest teachers go to their assigned schools in small groups after a one-week training session at SGH. Their expenses are paid while they are in Poland by our Foundation and by our member company Tetley. They are housed and fed by families in their assigned villages which helps promote the Teaching Tolerance component of the project. They spend about 2 weeks in each village, but will spend more time in our 11 Promise Schools. Some of Tetley’s employees have volunteered to help teach English along with our International guests in our Promise Schools. The official opening of the Peace Project will be in early February 2007 and will be followed by a one week training program. We will keep all of you informed as the project progress. Thanks to Tetley for taking on this very special program.
