| We are extremely pleased to announce that one of Poland’s most renowned Construction Companies, PORR POLSKA has become a member of the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility, and will join us in combating hunger and malnutrition among poor Polish Children. We will award PORR POLSKA our Foundation’s Gold Seal of Approval as a Socially Responsible Company at our Executive Officers Breakfast on March 28th.
With its headquarters in Vienna, PORR AG is the second largest construction company in Austria. It was established in 1869, and is not only present on the Austrian market, but is also very active in all Central and Eastern European countries. The company was launched on the Polish market in the second half of the 1980’s with construction of the four-star Holiday Inn Hotel in Warsaw. After completing a variety of other successful projects in Poland, PORR POLSKA was officially established in Poland in 1993 and has completed major construction projects all over the country.
Projects completed by PORR POLSKA have been very well received on the Polish market and include the following prestigious buildings: Hotel Intercontinental, the neighboring Warsaw Financial Center building, the University Library, the Hotel Sheraton, and the new Warsaw Stock Exchange Building on Ksiazeca street. Those of us who live in Warsaw know that all of these buildings are now considered to be an integral part of the Warsaw landscape.
PORR POLSKA has branch offices in Krakow, Wroclaw and Poznan, and they are very proud of their Trade, Business and Art Centre in Poznan, “The Old Brewery,” which is a very spectacular example of a successful Polish revitalization investment. The building won many awards and in Istanbul it was awarded the title of best medium size trade centre in Europe, followed a couple of months later in Phoenix, AZ, by being awarded the same title for the whole world!
In addition, PORR POLSKA constructed the Auditorium Maximum for the oldest Polish University, the Jagillonian University in Krakow. It is well known as a set of auditoriums, seating as many as1200 people in its largest auditorium. The building is characterized by combining classical architecture with very modern acoustical equipment.
The vast success of PORR POLSKA is due to the trust they have earned from investors, and from the exceptional support of their professional staff. In order to effectively manage a modern construction project, highly trained and experienced people are required, and it is these people who decide how efficiently the sometimes very complicated construction processes will be achieved.
