It was a personal pleasure for me to announce to our gathered members and guests on Friday morning, that the number one retailer in Poland, Makro Cash & Carry, was our Foundation’s newest member. The occasion was our Fall member’s breakfast meeting held at the Le Royal Meridien Bristol Hotel, and the surprise announcement was a major highlight of our morning’s festivities.
For those who don’t know, Makro Cash & Carry, is a member of the 3rd largest retail group in the world, the Metro Group. Makro is a wholesaler offering a food and non-food product mix to its registered card-holding customers in a national network of soon-to-be 25 Makro stores in Poland. Makro is a unique food and non-food concept, offering a wholesale solution to professional business needs.
Makro is a major buying experience offering its customers a large wholesale choice, value and service. Makro’s vast experience means that it knows exactly what customers want from a cash and carry store. While quality and service are vital, it’s the Makro pricing policy, covering over 40,000 products, that has made the Makro chain so famous and popular.
We were honored that Jeroen de Groot, Managing Director and President of the Makro Board, was able to join us for our Fall Breakfast on Friday morning. We are delighted that Jeroen caught our Foundation’s vision and decided that Makro would join our other 70 member companies in helping serve the special needs of 1,928 Promise Kids in 14 PromiseLand Schools.
Jeroen and I are working on a new concept in which Makro customers will be able to help our Foundation expand its Promise Kids program to many more needy Polish children in new Promise Schools in the Promiseland. There will be more to come as soon as the lawyers and accountants finish their work.
We welcome Makro Cash & Carry Poland to our Foundation, and we award Makro our Foundation’s Gold Seal of approval as a socially responsible company.
