It is with great pleasure that we add our third “Cooperating Organization” to the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility, The Warsaw Eagles American Football Organization. We are delighted that under the leadership of Tim Martin, the Warsaw Eagles will cooperate with our Foundation in supporting and spreading Corporate Social Responsibility throughout Poland’s business community through the game of American football, and supporting our Foundation’s Hot-Meal Program for hungry Polish children with periodic fund-raising campaigns..
In June of 1999, the first organized American Football team in Poland was established by a handful of friends hoping to expand their athletic prowess by playing a new and unfamiliar sport in Poland, American Football. Starting with little more than a worn out ball, the Warsaw Eagles have evolved from a rag-tag group of guys into a premiere team within the PLFA (Polska Liga Futbolu Amerykanskiego-www.plfa.pl)
The Eagles Team is composed of an extremely diverse group of individuals ranging from teenagers to what the team affectionately calls, “the old-timers.” This diverse team of students, white-collar professionals, executives, and members of the working class have banded together to work as an extremely effective team. Despite paying their own and team expenses out of pocket, the players willingly subject themselves to the grueling punishments of American football day in and day out, as well as doing all game logistics, preparation and promotion.
In 2006, the PLFA’s first official season, the Warsaw Eagles were the first Polish National Champions. With the league growing from four to nine teams in 2007, the Eagles were semi-finalists. In 2008, a coaching change combined with the players’ re-dedication to success, proved to be the necessary ingredients for the Eagles to reclaim the title of 2008 Polish National Champions.
The Warsaw Eagles evolved from meager beginnings to a committed American Football club. The Eagles are looking forward to 2009, not only to retain their championship status, but also to help build awareness about the sport of American football, and provide a public benefit to the needy children of Poland.
The Eagles are looking to you, the fan or perhaps just the curious observer, to help the sport of American football take root in Poland and to add to their legion of dedicated supporters.
We trust that many of our Foundation members will join the ranks of American Football fans knowing that this is a team that cares about those in need and helps our Foundation feed 60,000 hot meals each month to some of Poland most needy children.
The Warsaw Eagles can count on our Foundation’s support as they enter their tenth year of championship play in Poland.
The Warsaw Eagles join the British Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Netherlands- Polish Chamber of Commerce as Cooperating Organizations of the Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility. |
